He brings over twenty-six years of expertise that will deepen Shearwater’s ability to serve health plans and their members.
Dr. Gavras is the principal of JBGAVRAS CONSULTANTS, LLC, providing expertise throughout the spectrum of the healthcare industry. He also serves as senior strategic clinical advisor at CareCentrix, and, most recently, was president of the Florida market for Bright HealthCare. In addition, Dr. Gavras held key leadership roles at Prime Therapeutics, Avalon Healthcare Solutions, UnitedHealth Group, and Prudential Health. Dr. Gavras also served as Florida Blue’s senior vice president, delivery system, and chief medical officer in addition to being the first president of their Guidewell Health unit.
Dr. Gavras is a board-certified physician who transitioned to a full-time healthcare executive after a successful Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine career. He obtains a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and Psychology from Case Western Reserve University and a Medical Doctor Degree from New York Medical College.
