MarketWatch analyzed filings from the Federal Election Commission to keep track of where CEOs are donating their money and which campaigns are receiving the most from these company leaders in the 2022 midterm elections.
Now, we’re releasing the data behind our analysis that will be updated until election day as the FEC continues to process filings from individuals. Search for a CEO or company to see an itemized list of the records kept by the FEC that MarketWatch connected to that person.
The way the FEC itemizes donations does not filter out gifts made through conduits. That means a person’s name may be associated with the same donation twice — once as a donation to the conduit and once as a donation to the campaign. In the analysis for our tallies, we filtered out donations to ActBlue and WinRed, online platforms Democrats and Republicans, respectively, use to raise money, because they most often serve as conduits and are not filtered out using the FEC’s standard search.
Through our interactive, you can get a sense of the data yourself. Below you can look line-by-line at who CEOs of the most influential companies are donating to and which individual donation of theirs was the largest. Keep in mind there may be multiple donations for one transaction — the donation to the conduit and the donation to the intended campaign — which is why we do not include individuals’ total giving here.
