WINNIPEG, MB / ACCESSWIRE / September 16, 2022 / Businessman, Donald Benson, announces his candidacy for School Trustee, in Ward One (1) of the Pembina Trails School Division.
After four years of unsuccessfully lobbying the Minister of Education and his local school division, Mr. Benson has filed his nomination papers to run for Trustee for the Pembina Trails School Division, in the Civic Elections to be held on October 26, 2022.
“What is more precious than our children.” Before they leave the hospital at birth and on every instance, that we take them out in our automobile, we are cautioned of the need for a child restraint. That is until they become of school age, when they are picked up by a school bus, which has no such restraint. This has to change and when elected Benson intends to see that Seat Belts are installed in all school buses, not just in his division but across Canada.
“I will lobby the Federal Minister of Transportation, the Provincial Ministers of Education and Transportation and if necessary create a Go Fund Me campaign to raise the funds necessary to bring about the mandatory implementation of Seat Belts for all School buses.”
In the USA, Seat Belts are mandatory in California, Texas, Florida, Louisiana, New York and New Jersey. That’s 37% of the population.
“We must implement Mandatory Seat Belts for all School Buses, before the occurrence of another incident like that, which happened in Humboldt, SK.”
